"Jennifer Jones, Where Would We Be Without Her?"

At Olinde's Furniture we pride ourselves on special order furniture. Some our furniture can be offered in twelve different layouts with an option of eighty seven different fabrics, and we have almost one hundred salespeople who are assisting customers every day. That's a lot of moving parts! Now, who does Olinde's Furniture in Baton Rouge trust to complete these specials orders? Well, where would Olinde's be without Jennifer Jones?

Jennifer Jones has worked at our Airline Highway location in Baton Rouge for over 20 years, and she is the lady who never makes a mistake. I know, I know, I am not supposed to speak in absolutes; however, in Jennifer's case I can. Why? Because in looking at my notes, I have asked Jennifer Jones to make a special order for me well over five hundred times in six years and she has never once made a mistake. Not only is Jennifer perfect with special orders, but she also brings a bright smile and a cheerful attitude to a job that makes my head spin a little when I think about all the minute details that goes into it. 

I think Jennifer's only fault is that she is a Dallas Cowboys fan. So, you know I had to take a little grief from her when the Cowboys beat my beloved New Orleans Saints last night. On a serious note, I do not know where Olinde's Furniture would be without Jennifer Jones' expertise. There is nothing more frustrating than waiting for a delivery to arrive to your home! At Olinde's Furniture, we took the advice from a 3rd party administrator and attached Dispatch Track to our website at www.olindes.com. 

The next time you arrange for delivery from any of Olinde's Furniture's two locations or Olinde's Mattress Superstore's three locations you will receive a phone call more our delivery dispatcher the day before with a three hour delivery time frame. Therefore, on the day of delivery, please be sure and do the following steps in order to keep an eye on the status of your delivery: 

1) go to www.olindes.com

2) move cursor to the right side of the page over SERVICES

3) a drop down will appear, and click TRACK YOUR DELIVERY

4) in the space provided type your primary telephone numbers 10-digits - or - put in Olinde's 11-character sales order number that begins with seven numbers and ends in four letters

5) click FIND

6) a new window will pop-up on your desktop and with the all the information you need for your delivery, including an updated EXPECTED TIME OF DELIVERY

"Uncle Beau" - or - Joseph B. "Beau" Olinde, Jr.

When I was growing up it used to drive me crazy when my mother would tell me, "you need to act more like your Uncle Beau." Beau's younger brother, my dad, also told me what a good brother Beau was to his three brothers and three sisters. Beau Olinde is the namesake of my grandfather, JB Olinde, and Uncle Beau also has the "big heart" of my grandmother, "Tyke" Olinde.

Instead of going straight into the family business, Uncle Beau went to law school. After practicing law for many years, Beau was asked to work for our family's beverage distributor, the Baton Rouge Beverage Company. Now that I have come into the family business at Olinde's Mattress Superstore and www.olidnes.com, Uncle Beau is also my boss as well, and that is a good thing :)

Uncle Beau helps with the everyday operations of Olinde's Furniture, and handles many of our legalities that come with business. Not to mentioned the endless list of projects that he handles as well. Due to his big heart, I am sure that Uncle Beau never gets tired of my legal questions, or me asking for advice, or my endless obsessing over Houston Astros baseball. When Your Uncle is the Boss :)

Ever since I realized I did not like to see blood and I could not be a doctor like my father, I wanted to work for Olinde's Furniture. Kind of funny, but it was and is my dream job. I like to help people, and our furniture company is all about helping people with their furniture purchase. My uncle, Tom Olinde, is the CEO of our company, and he is someone I look up to in life. He may seem serious on the outside, but he is quite the businessman and a lovable uncle :) 

Tom Olinde does things the right way and his business motto is the Golden Rule - "treat people the way you want to be treated." If I go to buy a lawnmower, then I want the salesperson to treat me with respect and be fair. Therefore, each and every customer that walks through our door deserves respect, fairness and kindness from me and all of our 300 employees. At Olinde's Furniture we pride ourselves on our ability to quickly and efficiently help you. Unlike the big box stores where they give you a 1+800 telephone number and you end up speaking to someone in India after waiting on hold for fifteen minutes, Olinde's Furniture has two people in each store in Baton Rouge and Lafayette whose job is to help you. 

Mistakes do happen, and Olinde's Furniture is only perfect 99% of the time :) For that 1%, Olinde's Furniture's Customer Service Department is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Saturday. The Customer Service Department is closed on Sunday, but always leave a message and we will get back to you. Meet the Author of Olinde's Furniture's Blog!

Look at that fine looking young man :) Actually, that picture was taken of me 6 years ago at the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge. A full-time job, a wonderful wife, two amazing kids, two Labrador dogs and two black cats later, you will see a fatter face and a few more wrinkles (see below and notice how I made the second picture a little smaller).

Well, that's me, Andrew Olinde, Jr. My current titles at Olinde's Furniture are district manager of Olinde's Mattress Superstore's three locations, and the Internet sales manager. Though it can be quite the challenge, my six years with Olinde's Furniture have been great! If you are blogger, then you will see that I wrote a bunch of blogs about 4 years ago, and then I stopped. Now I am back at it again. Why? Because I like to write and it is good for business :)

I was at the gym this past Sunday, and I friend of mine asked, "what exactly makes Olinde's Furniture different from other stores?" I was caught off guard a little, but I wanted to think hard about my answer before I just blurted the normal garbage like we have the best prices or highest quality. So, after a brief reflection, I responded by saying, "I believe that Olinde's is different because we truly care about making our customer's experience the best."

Yes, we may not always have the lowest price, and we still make mistakes from time to time. Sorting Pricing on www.olindes.com

www.olindes.com has a very wide assortment of merchandise that ranges from as little as $20 to as high as a single Surya rug at $29,000. It would be nice if no one had a budget in mind when looking for furniture; however, I understand that almost every customer has a general idea of what they want to spend on furniture or mattresses. 

www.olindes.com can make your furniture and mattress search easy. First off, find a category that you are interested. For example, let's say you typed "beds" in search box (upper right-hand corner) and 1,654 beds showed up ranging from $94 for a headboard only to $6,900 for a king canopy bed by Hooker Furniture. So, your budget is $800, but you want to see a little wider range of pricing. On the left-hand side you will see "price." Underneath you will see two boxes of "min" and "max." Type in $650 as your minimum and $850 as your maximum (knowing that you can use the DISCOUNT17 online promo code to take 17% OFF online orders), then click "Go." Now your search has been narrowed down to 273. 

Still looking for a bargain? Then in the upper right-hand side click the "sort by" box and select low to high in the drop down. What is the size of my bed?

Part of my job at www.olindes.com is to get answer to questions. The question that we hear a lot in the furniture and mattress business is "what size is my bed or mattress?" The dimensions are easy: a Twin is 39" wide by 75" long, a Twin XL is 39" wide by 80" long, a Full (or Double) is 54" wide by 75" long, a Queen is 60" wide by 80" long, a Standard King is 76" wide by 80"long, and a California King is 72" wide by 84" long.

The most common questions are do I have a Full size or a Queen size, or do I have a California King or a Standard King. The general answer to the former is most of the time customers have a Queen because Queens constitutes about 60% of the furniture and bedding market, and the answer to the Standard King/Cal King question is another answer: "where do you buy your bed sheets?" Other than in California, most customers have a Standard King, and most bed sheet retailers (other than in California) carry only Standard King bed sheets. If the customer tells me that they have trouble finding bed sheets or they buy them only online, then I am almost certain they have a California King.
